By Evelyn Cairns A parade of fashions featuring the latest trends for fall and the holiday season will highlight the annual benefit luncheon of the Overture Society Nov. 17 at the Grecian Center in Southgate. The society is the fundraising arm of the Southern Great Lakes Symphony.
A social hour is planned for 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon, with the fashion show to fol-low.
The menu will include pecan-crusted chicken, sweet potato soufflé, green beans amandine, salad and dessert, according to society member Judy Gullen, who is chairing the event for the 11th consecutive year.
Models will include Amanda Noto, Florence Morrow, Katie Hartwell, Linda Frietag, Bernice Rynearson, Coleen Skrzycki, Carole Scott and Gloria Wilson.
Others are Chris Dowhan-Backey, Nina Szuch, Jennifer Conti, Diane Hepner, Caryn Butler Leslie Zancanaro, Carole Bell, Shelly Schutt and Kathy Griffith.
Expect to see faux fur, tunic’s metalics, jewel tones, color-blocking, fedoras, knit caps, jewelry and other accessories from Trish Boutique on the runway.

DYPAC sets performances The Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center will present “Children of Eden,” a two-act musical based on the book of Genesis, at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 and 2 and 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Flat Rock High School Auditorium, 28100 Aspen.
The first act tells the story of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel, and the second is about Noah and the Flood.
The production, featuring a cast of more than 70, is directed by Mary Zaleski, with Lou Hoffman as assistant director. Anita Closlowski is the choreographer; Sarah Leonard, vocal director; and Matt Kush, music director.

Art nouveau will be topic “The International Art Nouveau Style in Europe” will be the topic of Michael Farrell for a lecture in a series being held by the Downriver Council for the Arts at the James R. DeSana Center for Arts and Culture, the former Wyandotte Arts Center, 81 Chestnut.
Farrell will discuss how European architects and designers borrowed from plant forms as models for art and architecture. He also will talk about the manifestations of the style in Scotland, France, Belgium, Spain and Austria
The cost of the lecture is $ 15, $ 10 for DCA members; $ 5 for full-time students with valid identification.
Farrell has been a professor of art history at the University of Windsor since 1968 and founded its Honors Art History Program. He has taught for Central Michigan University and the College for Creative Studies and was adjunct curator at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Historical Museum.
HFCC slates holiday meal For those who can’t wait until Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving dinner, the Henry Ford Community College Hospitality Studies Department has scheduled holiday buffets for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Fifty-One O One student-run restaurant on the HFCC Dearborn campus, 5101 Evergreen.
The menu will include squash soup, roast turkey with dressing, baked ham with brandied cherry sauce, and carved beef. Among the accompaniments will be mashed potatoes, maple-glazed sweet potatoes and a vegetable medley.
